I suffer from a multitude of obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCDs). Of late, however, I am wondering whether “suffering” is the right word to use since there is another side to it. And of late, I have started seeing the other – the good – side of OCDs and have learned how to use it to my advantage. While OCDs can be a big inconvenience at times, you can make them work for you. In my case, no matter how much in the dumps I am, my OCDs force me to wake up at 6.00 AM every day, have my four meals a day, drink that 1 liter of water, walk those 10,000 steps, clean the furniture, talk to my plants, feed my dogs and generally keep my life well organized. This same OCD forces me to very methodically make Plans B & C when Plan A does not work. It’s similar to making your adversities work for you. When life hands you lemons, make lemonade and sell it. As long as you control your urge to organize your potatoes according to shape & size, you are sorted.
